New Faces of TSC: Amber Leung and Clay Barnhart, Teachers

We welcomed several new faculty and staff members to the TSC community this school year! We invited them to answer a few questions as they settle into their first weeks of school. Please join us in getting to know Amber Leung and Clay Barnhart and welcoming them to our community!

Amber Leung, Gr. 7 Math Teacher

1. What were you doing before joining TSC?
I was a high school math teacher in Boston and also working for a nonprofit called Invest In Girls.

2. What has been your most memorable experience at TSC so far?
That’s so difficult to choose! All of the staff and students are so wonderful!!! I really loved that we ended the first assembly doing the slide!

3. What’s a fun fact about you?
I sold a picture of a carrot that I drew for $100.

4. What’s the best thing you read/watched/heard/attended recently?
I watched a movie called “Brittany Runs A Marathon” and it has a great message about growth mindset!

5. Favorite ice cream flavor; favorite place to eat it.
I'm lactose intolerant so I like Van Leeuwen's vegan Cookie Crumble.

Clay Barnhart, Gr. 4 Teacher

1. What were you doing before joining TSC?
I moved with my boyfriend and mini Goldendoodle to the city in July from Atlanta, GA, where I taught 3rd grade in Atlanta Public Schools. I was also named Rookie of the Year for Harry Norman Realtors for 2018, selling 5 homes (and flipping one) in my spare time.

2. What has been your most memorable experience at TSC so far?
Hiking Black Rock Mountain with the new and old staff at the beginning of the year. The view and the company, even with the rain, was amazing.

3. What’s a fun fact about you?
For ten years, I owned and directed a dance studio in my hometown, Columbia, SC.

4. What’s the best thing you read/watched/heard/attended recently?
I'm a HUGE Broadway fan. Winning front row tickets to the final show of “Kinky Boots” (my favorite show) in April was an experience I will never forget.

5. Favorite ice cream flavor; favorite place to eat it.
I actually don't eat ice cream! But, I do love chocolate chip cookie dough - before, and after, it's baked. :)
