All eighth-graders presented their Social Action Projects to the entire school community at an expo in early June. The SAPs this year covered an inspiring and impressive range of topics and passions: Abortion education and rights Animal abandonment and abuse Animal testing bans Arrests, suspensions and expulsions of minority students in schools Biodiversity of aquatic environments Body expectations and their effect on young girls Books for children in underserved neighborhoods Boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel Climate change Dangers of smoking Empowering youth of color Firearm regulations Legalization of marijuana Justice system injustices Media and its effect on education for girls Minority representation in schools Overfishing and how it affects the ecosystem Police brutality Protection of dogs and puppies Refugee crisis Social media’s affect on young women Ugandan education Undocumented immigrants Women in STEM |
