Distance Learning Technology

The list below gives examples of available technology and communication tools within TSC’s Distance Learning Plan.

  • Email

    Audience: Families, students, faculty, staff; all grades

    Description and Access: Email will be used for all major communications and announcements, including those from the head of school and division directors. If you need to contact your child’s teacher(s)/advisor, please use email.
  • Google G Suite

    Audience: Families, students, faculty, staff; all grades

    Description & Access: Google Docs, Slides and Sheets will continue to be the recommended platform for learning documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
     
  • Zoom

    Audience: CST support specialists and families, students; Intermediate and Middle Division faculty, students

    Description & Access: Video conferencing, online meeting, chat, and mobile collaboration platform. Families create free accounts to access (zoom.us); TSC space is password-protected.
  • Classroom Boards on TSC Website

    Audience: Primary Division (K-2) families, students

    Description & Access: Log in to The School’s website (www.theschool.columbia.edu). On top menu bar, click Groups; your child’s class (or children’s classes) will appear. Click Bulletin Board tab for resources from classroom teachers, and Topics tab for resources from studio-space teachers. Be sure to click both tabs to access all necessary resources.
  • Google Sites

    Audience: Middle Division (6-8) students

    Description & Access: Grade-level websites and schedules will continue to be utilized in the Middle Division to post files, assignments, and homework.
  • Google Classroom

    Audience: Grades 4 and 5 students, Middle Division (6-8) students

    Grade 3 students will use G Suite, building understanding of online shared platforms
     
    Description & Access: Platform for teachers and students to communicate and share files, assignments, and homework; students log in with TSC email account (classroom.google.com)
  • Teacherease

    Audience: Middle Division (6-8) students, families

    Description & Access: TeacherEase will continue to be TSC’s online grade book for the Middle Division, and used to track assignments and assessments.
  • TSC Website

    Audience: Families, students, faculty, staff; all grades

    Description & Access: TSC will maintain general information on password-protected resource boards (including Online Learning Resources) and publicly on the home page, including announcements and alerts (www.theschool.columbia.edu)
