New Faces of TSC: Tiffany Amin and Chris Klein, Associate Teachers

We welcomed several new faculty and staff members to the TSC community this school year! We invited them to answer a few questions as they settle into their first weeks of school. Please join us in getting to know Tiffany Amin and Chris Klein and welcoming them to our community!

Tiffany Amin Javaheri, Gr. 6 English Associate Teacher

1. What were you doing before joining TSC?
I was teaching Third Grade at the Packer Collegiate Institute.

2. What has been your most memorable experience at TSC so far?
Watching students encourage each other to be brave in class.

3. What’s a fun fact about you?
My favorite spice is saffron. My husband and I made up a drink this summer called “Summer Saffron” and it is delicious! Here is the recipe:
  1. Warm up a cup of water and add two spoonfuls of honey. Stir to dissolve the honey and let it cool.
  2. Boil a separate cup of water and add half a teaspoon of ground-up saffron. Let it cool, covered with a top for a half an hour.
  3. Squeeze a full lime into the cup of water with honey
  4. Fill two glasses with ice and combine everything together. It should have a golden orange color. Dilute with water to your liking.
Serves 2

4. What’s the best thing you read/watched/heard/attended recently?
The film City Lights by Charlie Chaplin

5. Favorite ice cream flavor; favorite place to eat it.
Butter Pecan on the couch

Chris Klein, Gr. 3 Associate Teacher

1. What were you doing before joining TSC?
I just graduated from Union College in Schenectady, NY this past year, where I majored in chemical engineering. I taught engineering to high school kids in the summers, and also was active in My Brother’s Keeper, an organization started by President Obama that pairs college student mentors with kids. I also coached basketball, and I’m excited to coach the fifth grade boys team at TSC this year.

2. What has been your most memorable experience at TSC so far?
The FOOD! Every time I eat lunch, the food here is so good. Also the fact that we’re fed every day, breakfast and lunch.

3. What’s a fun fact about you?
My mom is also a third grade teacher in NYC!

4. What’s the best thing you read/watched/heard/attended recently?
I read “Exhalation” by Ted Chiang, a collection of science fiction short stories, which I really enjoyed. I also recommend the movie “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind,” which is based on a true story and very inspiring.

5. Favorite ice cream flavor; favorite place to eat it.
Ben & Jerry’s Mint Chocolate Cookie, on my couch.
