High School Placement

Selection and Application process
In the high school selection and application process, the Placement Office works collaboratively with advisors and teachers to ensure that students and families are well prepared to meet the challenges of the future with competence, confidence and imagination. We are committed to a thoughtful process that encourages students to discover their unique learning styles, abilities, interests, goals and passions. Self-knowledge is an essential component for developing a list of prospective schools with missions, histories, and cultures that will be a good match. Beginning in the seventh grade, students explore high school options by attending public, independent and parochial school fairs and open houses. They develop strong personal relationships with teachers and advisors throughout this important academic year. Advisory and leadership programs support the high school placement process by offering strategies for interviews, school visits, academic portfolios and essays. High school admissions counselors also visit The School to give presentations to students and families. Placement Office resources include a small library of helpful references and online resources.
