• Two-step process beginning with need-blind lottery; families who are drawn from the lottery are notified in late October and receive applications

• Lottery list is not closed, The School may go back and contact families further down the list after February if more spaces are available

• Receiving an application does not guarantee a space

• Catchment Area - Public School Districts 3 & 5 – families drawn from the lottery must provide proof of residency by submitting lease, mortgage and maintenance bills or tax returns; No other bills or documentation will be accepted as proof of residency

• Members of the Columbia University bargaining units can apply through the Neighborhood lottery process if they reside in Districts 3 and 5

• Kindergarten age requirement: The School at Columbia follows the New York City Public School’s calendar for birthday cutoffs; Students applying to Kindergarten for the 2015-2016 school year must turn five by December 31, 2015

• Testing requirements and application fee: We do not require any educational testing (ERB, etc) for admission, nor do we have an application fee

• Admission Inquiries - Online inquiry/Lottery opens August 15, 2014 and closes on October 15, 2014;
if you have trouble accessing it at home, please come to the school to complete an online inquiry form

• Application deadline November 14, 2014

• Must submit completed application, proof of residence, birth certificate and photo

• Parent/s must attend Open House prior to November 14, 2014

• Parent/s and child must attend Child Visit in December 2014

• School reports due November 14, 2014

• Notifications mailed out early February 2015 – signed contracts and deposits due February 13, 2015.
